Claudine Schneider, Board of Advisors

Claudine Schneider brings decades of experience in government, non-profit development and social-change strategies to Learning for Living's Board of Advisors.

Ms. Schneider was elected to the U.S. Congress for the state of Rhode Island in 1980 and served for 10 years. After leaving Congress, Ms. Schneider served as a member of the faculty at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. She taught leadership at the United Nations Leadership Academy in Amman, Jordan, Rutgers University, Brown University, and the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Visionary Leadership.

In 1991, Ms. Schneider co-founded Energia Global, an energy-efficiency and renewable-energy company. She is now the Senior Vice President of Econergy International, an energy consulting firm.

Prior to her long stay in Congress, Ms. Schneider founded the Rhode Island Committee on Energy to provide education on energy issues to the public. She also founded the Conservation Law Foundation to provide legal representation to private citizens combating environmental problems. She served as the federal coordinator for the Rhode Island Coastal Zone Management Program.

Growing up in Pittsburgh, Penn., Ms. Schneider graduated from Windham College in Vermont and attended the University of Rhode Island School of Community Planning.

Ms. Schneider moved to Boulder in 1994, drawn to Colorado by its spectacular mountain backdrop. She enjoys biking, hiking and climbing fourteeners in addition to a host of artistic pursuits.
